day three hundred sixty-one.

i spent my new year's eve with a grape juice toast, fresh bread, and the sounds of fireworks.
(gunshots?)
happy 1/1/11, ya'll.

paperz.

i blocked out my entire day to be productive and i've written 1 page (of the necessary 10-12) in the last 6 hours.
considering using the remainder of my saturday to reorganize books and/or read old magazines to drain my brain of academic clutter. my head is made of cotton. and peanut butter. and other impassable things.

i thought that reading the plot to m. night shymalan's movie "devil" might make me laugh and/or feel better.
but once it became clear that the elevator was not in fact the devil, but just some malfunctioning building equipment, i stopped.
anything else is unacceptable as a twist.
unacceptable.
as a twist.

day three hundred twenty-three.

so far today, i read the paper, my 5-year-old nephew explained the plot of 'how to train your dragon,' and i drank some tea.
now sorting through some books/pictures/clothes in my room.
instead of really deciding what to donate, i usually just end up reading on the floor until someone knocks on the door to see if i'm still awake.

day three hundred twenty.

i had one of the better weekends in recent memory.
friends, food, and harry potter.

team trivia saturday at the library.
we came in second!

day three hundred seven.

classtime smarts.
(our professor broke her nose and was absent last week (ow), so she brought us halloween candy today upon her return. it seems like it should be the other way around. and yet, the sugar was nice)

monday night movie.
put me in the mood for some hitchcock later this week.

day two hundred ninety-eight.

i really love bela lugosi.
even while playing a rubber bat suspended from a wire:

that is some fine acting, sir.

well now i'm scared of something.

yawning cat (not a demon. i repeat, not a demon).

costumes and candy and capes tonight.
halloween is the best.

day two hundred ninety-one(-ish).

this guy plays a ultra-nerd/awkward terrible date/car sexing enthusiast in the 1989 movie teen witch, which i watched again saturday night with friends.
to today's eyes, he just looks like he could be in vampire weekend.

day two hundred eighty-nine.

movie night at robyn's, complete with hot cider and a kitten.

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

day two hundred fifty-three.

sometimes our books come with hand written notes on select pages, from those who reviewed them in the past.

let the nitpicking ensue:

some instructions:

and a bit of shock and indignation from a book on plants:

a very busy week, now reaching its halfway point.
when i have too much to do, i often block out time to watch the movies i've seen before, as if seeing even fragments of the familiar will order my thoughts in some productive way.
it only works sometimes.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

day two hundred fifty-two.

i think the bangs bring that up a half step on the scale.

work fort

co-op couscous

(sometimes i could just watch movies all day)

day two hundred forty-eight.

Photobucket

friday pop music + wearing new tights = the new caffeine
too many places to be todayyyy

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

day two hundred forty-six.

sadly not about a romantic zombie apocalypse.

wednesday night = $7 worth of cold remedies + 1 dose of french cinema.
my sinuses appreciate both, i think.

Monday, September 6, 2010

day two hundred forty-four.

last night there was a kicking and screaming party at robyn & joel's rather grand new apartment, followed by scrabble, instant streams of 30 rock, and watching a raccoon descend from a large tree. emma swore that he would be friendly.

today i slept late and woke to sunshine and excellent breezes creeping through the windows.
alas, the long weekend must end.

day two hundred thirty.

(i'm looking at you, jessica)

i started work this morning, in the land of snarky reviews pasted into books and odd subject matter:

then my bank was inexplicably playing "up" to an audience of no one.

dinner.

long day, but i returned home to mail and the soundtrack of sufjan's ode to the apocalypse.
a good start to the semester, i'd say.

Sunday, August 8, 2010

day two hundred fifteen.

i want to watch my favorite movie and slow down the pulse of time passing.
six days left in DC and i'm already nostalgic.
