day two hundred seventy-eight(-ish).

your sunday post
(or, all posts go to heaven)

1980s retellings of creation myths are not always as comforting or informative as they are perhaps intended to be.

day two hundred fifty-eight.

i was talking about oregon yesterday and it reminded me that i had a book come through my desk about that beautiful state.

it is mainly about how people live and work with the land, and how its loveliness needs to be preserved. a worthy topic.

c1986

but it started to get a little weird on page one:

um.

and the man behind the quote?

oh yeah, all i can see there is that beautiful land.

day one hundred.

this is a book from 1951 featuring real animals. i can only imagine it was made to frighten children into not asking their parents for a pet.

(click any image for a bit of a closer view, because that is something you might want to do if sight is not your favorite thing)

this is precisely what i look like when i get to class.

if i knew you were coming i'd have baked the photographer.

so, this is supposed to be a well, and not gallows. i think.

oh great, they killed one.

i'm a pretty girl.

this dog wants to kill himself.

the ever-snarky review, this time wildly appropriate.

happy one hundredth day.
