day nineteen.

i started my adult popular lit class today. we're reading books in all genres: mystery, science fiction, fantasy, western, urban lit, romance, and literary non-fiction.
being forced to read something that isn't a pdf file for a class? oh, and you get to have a class book club- with snacks? yes, please.
i am starting with an audio book by kathy reichs (because i like the show "bones") and ursula le guin's the left hand of darkness.
one of the main goals of the course is to make us nonjudgmental of others' reading interests, which i think most of us recovering english majors desperately need.

i think i may actually get to sleep early tonight.

day eighteen.

my dad and his dad, 1961 or so.
this is the only picture i have of my dad in my apartment, because it is my favorite.

three days of classes down, and already a pile of reading.
marrying a lengthy pdf file tonight- a sleep reception will follow.

day sixteen.

*not actually sure this is a fedora, but i make the rules here.

Thursday, January 21, 2010

day fifteen.

this is jc, coming to your live from an online class (so, my apartment, while i listen to course procedures and sip tea).
my professor just noted that, in regard to missing class sessions, "everyone has situations where they can't attend, because their computer was run over by a tricycle or something awful."

i made myself a workout chart for motivational purposes and posted it on the fridge.
i find that when i am somehow tangibly accountable to myself, i get more accomplished.
i also like stickers.

my reaction exactly.

in non-television related news, i made a burrito tonight and it reminded me of that show "rich girls," when ali didn't know how to make one and had a burrito breakdown. did i say non-television related? i meant highly so.

day five.

the(unframed) map of the U.S. that hangs above my bed fell on me sometime during the night and i woke up thinking it was a crunchy new blanket.
