day three hundred sixty-one.

i spent my new year's eve with a grape juice toast, fresh bread, and the sounds of fireworks.
(gunshots?)
happy 1/1/11, ya'll.

day three hundred thirty-six.

i stopped in this swanky grocery store where milk is $4 and there was half an aisle dedicated to the sale of charming soda bottles:

it reminded me of how i want to go here/develop diabetes:

justice is sweet.

day three hundred sixteen.

we started our new cataloging project yesterday at work.
more children's books, this time a collection of donations from peoria.

i'm really glad we were all able to stay on at the library. it makes sense for the department too, since we are already trained to deal with this material.
(and we get to do call numbers this time)
(librarian high five)

one of co-worker laura's inaugural books was this:

which she noticed immediately upon looking at the first few pages was the same book from this song:

i was, of course, then moved to listen to the entire fevers and mirrors album while i worked because i am angsty and seventeen and it was cloudy outside and i had a scarf on.

one of my first books was, naturally, nightmare inducing.
but more on that tomorrow.

day two hundred ninety-five.

i made a recent allowance to read a bit of non-school related material (that is also not on the internet) every day.
books. stories. journal articles.
grad school can rot one's brain, even with all the new knowledge to absorb. or perhaps because of it.
surely there is space for additional, sustaining literature.
surely.

(i'm watching a mad men marathon right now. its a "best of season 2"- does that mean the entire season?)
(also there is a very dramatically cut commercial for at&t u-verse customers who might lost AMC before the mad men season premiere. reactions to kennedy's death and dramatic face rubbing. amazing)
