day three hundred fifty-eight(-ish).

early morning frostiness on the car

colored windows at the stl amtrak station

i finished reading the graphic memoir stitches, by david small, while i was on the train.
the 300 some pages left me wanting more, but in the good way.

my seatmate was a girl about my age.
she read decision points.
to each her own.

i regret nothing.

day three hundred thirty-eight.

more tips for main reference:

 lights: historically inaccurate.

my books were a little low on interesting content today so i arranged them by color before leaving.
much better.

tonight i'm doing a bit of homework and organization and wearing of warm socks.
i unintentionally sorted my itunes by album, so it started alternating tracks between the greatest hits of morrisey and james taylor. well done, computer.

sometimes i like making lists just to cross things off.

make dinner
don't burn it
unless you like it that way
which you don't

we're reviewing preservation grant proposals for archives class this week.
my report pretty much reads: "yeah, these sound okay i guess."

day three hundred twenty-nine.

a dusting of snow on the steps tonight. we almost made it to december without even a hint.
i made myself a nice dinner and washed many warm things.
the start of winter is so cozy, i don't mind it at all.

day three hundred twenty-three.

so far today, i read the paper, my 5-year-old nephew explained the plot of 'how to train your dragon,' and i drank some tea.
now sorting through some books/pictures/clothes in my room.
instead of really deciding what to donate, i usually just end up reading on the floor until someone knocks on the door to see if i'm still awake.

day three hundred twenty-one.

lining pages.

the weather today was sort of gloomy but perfect.
i celebrated by consuming a large pile of broccoli and hot sauce for dinner.

now i have been listening to the thunderstorm and doing research for my book crimes class (or, reading about sad librarians and x-acto knives).
it might have been a good idea to pay closer attention during the law section of my reference class last fall.
perhaps i will just look up pie recipes for the remainder of the evening.

day three hundred seventeen.

cheers, ray bradbury.
you've made the transition to our new project pretty much seamless.

 fancy.
(i cupped my little hands over the pages to test them out)
(it made me want to build a darkness zone under my desk for spooky reading)

so this book is about a teen boy who gets very ill.
this is him dead:

he did kind of see it coming though:

this is his sentient demon virus:

flu zombies are so voyeuristic:

all the cloaks:

 noooooo. dirty hands spread disease:

the origins of bird flu and/or fire eye syndrome:

day three hundred sixteen.

we started our new cataloging project yesterday at work.
more children's books, this time a collection of donations from peoria.

i'm really glad we were all able to stay on at the library. it makes sense for the department too, since we are already trained to deal with this material.
(and we get to do call numbers this time)
(librarian high five)

one of co-worker laura's inaugural books was this:

which she noticed immediately upon looking at the first few pages was the same book from this song:

i was, of course, then moved to listen to the entire fevers and mirrors album while i worked because i am angsty and seventeen and it was cloudy outside and i had a scarf on.

one of my first books was, naturally, nightmare inducing.
but more on that tomorrow.

day three hundred fourteen(-ish).

i feel it is only right to inform you all that i finished cataloging my last box of children's books at work.

that's right, the great post-steam-pipe-bursting-slash-mold-cleanup-children's-literature-backlog-cataloging-project will be complete as of this monday.
i still have some images to post, and it does look like we'll be put on another project of....more children's books for another library.
they probably won't be as weird or scary, but we shall see.
i know the possibility of only appropriate, relevant literature as blog subject matter was of concern to more than one of you.
so cheers to that!
